“I’m a older mom, late 40s with one kid. He is a tween but as big as me. He is a good kid. Perfect grades, tender hearted, social, and respectful mostly ••• however these mood swings! Idk how to deal with or punish him for his actions and/or words towards me especially when I’m correcting him for something! I can’t spank him he is as big as me. I may still pop him for certain tacky things said or done being a gross boy when he thinks it’s funny BUT when he is mad and he hasn’t quite learned how to control his emotions, he is A LOT!  I can & do take stuff away from him, ground him but that’s short lived maybe lasts a day. He does usually apologize and we can talk it out but it’s happening way more frequent. He gets so mad at me for correcting him or for getting on to him! He yells at me and slams stuff, throws stuff. He is 12! It’s my job to correct him. I feel like these iGen/GenZ kids are merely teaching us parents how to live in their world BUT it’s my job to teach him how to act and be a civil member of society – tips from seasoned parents of tween/teen boy(s) very appreciated. I know the good Lord knew I only needed 1 kid. Bless you parents with multiple kids dealing with many different moods & tudes! Especially you single moms/dads. I’m just looking for and needing advice on how to keep this boy (almost young man) in check and how to process and work with him through these insane mood swings. How do i know what’s normal and what’s not? It’s going to get worse before it gets better! TIA (If asked I am married to my kid’s dad & he is a functioning alcoholic meaning he works and provides for us. Dad can be very hateful and cruel when drunk. I don’t like him correcting our son due to the alcohol it gets out of hand because husband it out of line a lot of the time – I DO realize this is probably a lot of the issue but if I can’t control our son married how am I going to control him single)”

“My husband might as well be Urban Meyer’s assistant coach. That football coach got busted getting a lap dance at a bar. My husband did something similar on Saturday night when he went out with the guys. One of his friends used his phone to tape him dancing with some woman. His friend posted the video on Facebook and embarrassed me. My husband acted like he did nothing wrong. He would freak if I danced with another man. He has yet to apologize. I think what he did is a form of cheating. He says it is not because nothing physical happened. What do you think? Does he owe me an apology? Is what he did cheating?”
