Troye Sivan is putting friendship, connection, and the women in his life at the center of his next musical chapter.
During a recent conversation with Zane Lowe, the Australian pop singer discussed the inspiration behind his fourth studio album, She’s the Best, due October 9. Sivan said he has long felt happiest and most comfortable around women, describing those relationships as an important source of safety and creative energy.
He also looked back on nights spent getting ready for parties with female friends, saying those moments were often more enjoyable than the parties themselves. Some gatherings, he recalled, also exposed him to homophobia from boys, making the comfort of his close friendships especially meaningful.
Over the years, Sivan has formed personal and professional connections with women including Ariana Grande, Lily-Rose Depp, Charli xcx, and Nicole Kidman. Those relationships helped inform the ideas behind the new record.
The album follows Sivan’s single Party, which incorporates elements from Madonna’s 2000 hit Music.
