A knife-wielding robber high on drugs trying to rob a betting shop in Ryton, Gateshead in the U.K. in July was fended off by a quick thinking female clerk who pointed a stapler at him, reports the Daily Mail.  Jonathon Ridley, who is 21 years old, threatened employees in the store with a knife as he demanded cash, but when the clerk held up the stapler and told him to get out -- he listened.  At a hearing this week in Newcastle Crown Court the clerk testified that Ridley looked at her in disbelief, then he exited the shop as she called authorities.
